Second Empire Paris at Night

To accompany my article on the Spectaculaire Second Empire show at the Musée D'Orsay, published this morning, I went out last night a shot a few photograph's of Napoleon III's Paris.

The poster for this magnificent show is, unfortunately, an Ingres of a rather unprepossessing bourgeoise.

Ava Gardner is all over Paris advertising "Le Bikini a 70 ans"

I don't know who took this photograph of Ava Gardner that is plastered all over Paris. But I can't take my eyes off it, or perhaps I should say her eyes off me. It's mesmerizing. At the exhibition that's advertised, the photo is credited to Henry Diltz, photographer and musician, in 1940. Nope. Diltz, best known for album covers in the 1960s and '70s, was only two years old in 1940. With a bit more research in the "Bikini" catalogue, I discovered this was from the Everett Collection of Hollywood photographs. But no photographer is named. If you know, let me know.
